Comfrey

(Symphytum Officinale)

What is it?

Also known as knitbone, comfrey has a good reputation as a wound healer. It is soothing, healing and anti-inflammatory.

What it does in the body

Comfrey is used to treat fractures, wounds, sprains, psoriasis and eczema. Internally it has been used to treat gastrointestinal problems.

Cautions

Comfrey contains compounds which have caused liver damage in animals. It is not recommended for internal use.
